That's okay, I won't be getting to St. Andrews! Thanks for the info, though. I'm thinking that a lot of it is at flea markets, though. Might be a very different dynamic.

I've been to the "Charity Shops" (British for Thrift Store) in St. Andrews, Scotland while my husband was golfing (I went out for a round on the "Old Course" the day before and I think the weather is the real "hazard" in Scotland so stuck with shopping after that). There was one near the main street (I can't remember the side street) where I found the most gorgeous things, all under $10 (about 5 pounds in England, which is about as cheap as it gets) I walked out with a great wool coat and some Shetland Wool sweaters and a cashmere twinset. I wish I could be more specific about the location, but that was in 2000!

So, has anyone been to thrift stores or flea markets in Europe? I'm specifiacally interested in Venice, Vienna, Innsbruck/the Tirol, Prague, London, Cambridge and Manchester and would love any tips you got.
